How it Works
Good for your business.
GMP’s BYOD for Business pilot program pays you to share your stored energy with us. We use clean energy, stored in batteries, during peak power use times and that helps to reduce demand on the grid – which also reduces costs for all GMP customers!
What is an energy peak?
Peaks are the times when there is the greatest power demand on the grid (for example, 5pm on a steamy July evening). Energy peaks not only put a strain on the grid, but energy used then can be more expensive and dirty, and peaks are one of the biggest costs all GMP customers pay. Reducing demand then saves everyone money.
Benefiting you and Vermont.
We pay you based on the amount of energy shared from your battery during monthly peaks ($6.75 per kW), and the bigger annual peak ($44.52 per kW). That can add up to tens of thousands of dollars saved.
If your business is in an area where the grid is constrained (marked in orange or red on the map linked below), you can earn more when you share energy ($7.71 per kW for monthly peaks, $50.88 for annual peaks).
Getting a battery!
Fill out some info to save your spot. GMP’s BYOD for Business pilot program is limited to about 10 customers. We can only enroll up to 2MW of stored energy, so the exact number of customers will depend on how much each customer chooses to share. And, each customer is limited to sharing 500kW.
