Whole Home Backup Power
Our patent-pending innovative battery-as-a-meter delivers comfort,
convenience and optional flat-fee monthly pricing for power.
Two Powerwall batteries back up your whole home and can power you through outages like a generator, but without the fossil fuels! That’s 12-24 hours of green power. Charge up from the grid or your solar system.
Join us in breaking the old utility mold and delivering convenience and resiliency to you! Our patent-pending approach means your batteries give you great power reliability during storms and become your ‘meter,’ too by measuring your usage! No more meter to track how much power you’re using. This groundbreaking approach makes your Powerwalls super-efficient so you get more from your batteries than just energy storage!
This program is almost full.
This limited pilot program has room for 500 customers. 250 spots for batteries through GMP filled up the day we launched the program in April. 250 spots for batteries purchased through other Vermont renewable energy companies are nearly full. You can still join through our BYOD program! Just connect with a local energy storage retailer.
Get your batteries through GMP or a Vermont retailer.
You can get the dual benefits of the Resilient Home program when you buy your batteries from another Vermont renewable energy company and enroll through GMP’s BYOD program. Renewable Energy Vermont can help you locate a Vermont home battery retailer. Call (802) 229-0099 or go to Renewable Energy Vermont.
Want extra convenience? Choose a fixed monthly price for your power use.
A great option for Resilient Home customers! Pay the same amount for power every month. You can lock in a convenient fixed price for a year based on your past average power use. Fixed monthly price not right for you? Stick with paying based on your usage, just as you do now.
Have questions! Call us! (888) 835-4672
You need to:
• be a customer of GMP;
• own your home (existing homes and new builds qualify);
• have reliable internet access, to allow GMP and Tesla to communicate with the Powerwall;
• be current on your GMP account; and
• be on GMP’s most basic residential energy rate – Rate 01 (more than 95% of GMP residential customers already are).
If you also choose to go solar at the time you join this program, there may be additional eligibility requirements for the solar product you choose.
If you choose the monthly payment, a $30 charge will show up on each monthly GMP statement. If you pay up-front, a $3,000 charge will appear on the next monthly statement.
No. As a participant in the program, you pay for your net energy usage. Any energy metered when you charge the battery will be subtracted from your total when it is discharged back to the grid.
Yes, during an outage Powerwall can recharge with solar energy from a new or existing solar system. This extends your backup power for protection during extended outages.
Your two Powerwalls will provide 16 to 24 hours of backup power for your whole home when there’s an outage. If you have a home solar system installed, the Powerwall will continue to charge during a grid outage so long as the sun is shining. In this case, if solar conditions are good, your home could have backup power for a longer period of time.
The pilot program requires customers who rely on life-saving or other critical equipment have a separate backup for that equipment because the pilot program involves sharing your stored energy during peak usage times which can deplete your battery, and because some outages can take longer to repair than the charge available in your battery. If you have an emergency or critical concerns, call 9-1-1.
