Have You Wondered How Your Business Could Reduce Its Carbon Footprint?
Because every business customer is different, GMP works directly with organizations to determine the best path forward for their individual operations. We could make it easier for you to power their operations with the electric grid or perhaps to upgrade equipment. We can also deploy plans specific to your business that award you for fossil fuel reduction through use of financial incentives. Each customer’s situation is unique, but we may be able to help you reduce your overall operating costs.
For example, we recently completed a project with The A. Johnson Co., LLC, to convert its Bristol saw mill, which previously ran on a diesel generator, to electric grid power. Leaders there were able to reduce their demand for diesel fuel by almost 31,000 gallons per year and offset their carbon dioxide output by nearly 6,176 metric tons over the next 20 years. That’s just one business and that’s a big environmental win.
While all this may sound like a heavy lift, we’re there for you. Not only will we help you strategize about where you can make improvements to your operations. In many cases, our crews can help you with the work to make transformations on your site. And you might be eligible for a rebate on your GMP bill that can cover a portion, or even, in some cases, all of your project costs.
GMP Energy Innovation projects are part of a statewide initiative to reduce fossil fuel usage and greenhouse gas emission through Act 56, passed by the Vermont legislature in 2015.
Vermont’s carbon reduction targets are aggressive, but GMP’s goals are as well. By the end of 2032, our Energy Innovation efforts, including our partnerships with Vermont businesses, will result in an offset of almost 200,000 metric tons of carbon per year, which is the equivalent of removing almost 39,000 cars from the road.
