The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) provides a 25% discount each month to income-qualified customers on the customer charge and the energy charge. There may also be a one-time arrearage forgiveness as shown on your active energy statement for eligible customers who are new to the program.
This EAP rate is available to customers with household income at or below 185% of federal poverty guidelines. Your income is verified through the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF), which has more details about income qualification and the application on its website here.
Get started! Here’s how:
- Complete the application and return it to the Vermont DCF for review (info is on the application).
Vermont DCF will notify you and GMP if you qualify.
Once we’re notified, the EAP discounted rate is applied to your account on the next month’s energy statement. Starting in 2023, customers receiving the EAP discount re-enroll in the program through Vermont DCF each year.
