The Energy Assistance Program, or EAP, is a low-income rate available to qualified customers.
This rate provides a 25% discount to low-income customers on the customer charge and the energy charge each month. There will also be a one-time arrearage forgiveness as shown on the customer’s active electric bill for eligible low-income customers who enroll during the first three months of the program.
This rate is available to customers at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines. Eligibility varies by size of family.
Steps to apply:
- In order to qualify for the low-income rate, you must complete an application.
- Once the application is complete, return to the Agency for review.
- If you qualify, the Agency will notify you and GMP.
- The discounted rate will be applied to your account with the next month’s bill after GMP received notification.
