GMP Home Visit
Have you met Dan? You really need to meet Dan! Or Jenn or Freeman, or anyone else on our GMP Energy Services Team. These are the folks that will help you save money on your energy costs and be more comfortable in your home. Let’s walk you through the simple steps on how this works using a recent home visit in Grafton.
Lisa recently purchased a home and knew she wanted to save money on her energy bills so she gave us a call. She talked to Barb, one of our Energy Advisors located at the Energy Innovation Center in Rutland, who set up with an appointment for Dan to visit.
At the energy assessment, Dan and Lisa walked through the home to determine how the home is being heated and cooled, whether it is drafty and letting the cold air in (and warm air out!) and where we can make suggestions for savings. First they toured the areas of the home Lisa wanted to spend most of her time in, this is a great place to start, make your favorite rooms more comfortable! They also checked out drafty crawlspaces and the basement, inspecting the sills, water heater and dampness of the space. Then they sat at the kitchen table to map out a plan to achieve Lisa’s energy and comfort goals.
The home visit took under an hour. Then Dan called Lisa with recommendations based on what he found during the visit including benefits of weatherization, hyper-efficient heat pumps and a heat pump water heater. This follow up also included an estimate of savings Lisa would get when the work is completed. First up, a blower-door energy audit from our partners at the Heat Squad, then heat pumps!
