Green Mountain Power’s Sun Match Pilot

GMP’s innovative and simple Sun Match provides income-eligible customers an opportunity to subscribe to a shared GMP solar array and save money when the sun is shining! This pilot program is now full.

How it Works

Participants subscribed to a shared GMP solar array at no cost, and receive a discount for your electricity usage when the solar array is generating. Maximize your savings by shifting consumption to sunny hours of the day when the shared array is making power!

  • 4 cent/kWh discount is available to customers receiving EAP benefits
  • 8 cent/kWh discount is available to all other income-eligible customers.

Pilot program runs from April 2022- October 2023.

How much will I save in this program?

Over the course of a year, an average participant can expect to save about $150, or even more if you shift usage.

What happens if I no longer want to participate?

You can opt out at any time without penalty. You will keep any credits you have already earned in the current billing period.

Is there any cost to participating in the program?

No, there are no costs to participants.

Will I continue to receive Electricity Assistance Program benefits?

Yes, if you are receiving EAP benefits, you will continue to receive those benefits and the Sun Match discount will be in addition to EAP.

How do I maximize savings?

Run any large appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, dryer) when the sun is shining. Charge your electronics in the middle of the day rather than at night. Precool your home with air conditioning before the sun goes down.

Do I need to own or lease my own solar array?

No, you will be sharing an existing GMP solar array with the other participants in the pilot.
