Test Drive Events This Wednesday in Rutland and Next Wednesday in Montpelier
COLCHESTER, Vt. – As part of Green Mountain Power’s (GMP) expanding outreach and education about electric vehicles (EVs), GMP is inviting customers to get behind the wheel and learn more at two upcoming Test Drive Events. Dozens of customers joined GMP and local dealers at a Test Drive Event in Colchester last week.
EVs are less expensive to ‘fuel up’ and require less maintenance, so you save thousands of dollars over the life of the vehicle. Drive Electric Vermont estimates that charging up an EV is like paying $1.50 a gallon of gas, so families and businesses can save money and cut carbon.
“Transportation is the number one cause of carbon emissions in Vermont, and switching to driving an electric vehicle is a great way to reduce your own carbon footprint as GMP’s energy supply is 90 percent carbon free and 60 percent renewable and getting greener all the time,” said Josh Castonguay, vice president of power supply and innovation. “There are great GMP rebates available, and they can be combined with other discounts and federal tax incentives for bigger savings. Driving electric not only saves you money, but also helps drive down costs for all customers.”
The Test Drive Events will be at GMP offices in Rutland and Montpelier. Customers can ask questions, go for a test drive, and check out a variety of electric vehicles. GMP is partnering with several local dealerships that will be there.
GMP customers can qualify for up to $2,500 in GMP rebates, and since the new incentives launched in March, more than 300 customers have made the switch to driving electric. And when you switch to an EV, GMP will give you a Level-2 charger ($600 value) so you can charge conveniently at home in just a few hours. By sharing access with GMP and not charging at peak times, that helps control costs for all customers.
