Process for starting a new project with GMP
The first step for a new project with GMP is to contact a distribution designer at a local service center. Your distribution designer will be your main contact during the planning stages of your project.
If your project requires the construction of new poles or the relocation of permanent electrical infrastructure, see the process for line extensions and relocations.
If your project requires hookup of service cable only (the line from the last pole to your building), and no additional poles need to be set, see the process for new service cable hookup.
If you need service at a temporary location, e.g. at a construction site or a non-permanent structure, see the requirements for temporary service.

Who completes the work?
For overhead applications, GMP will do all pole set and wire install. Some towns will require telephone company participation. For underground applications, the contractor or developer installs the conduit for both primary and secondary lines. The customer/developer responsibilities include providing all secondary wire. Who installs the meter socket?
The customer installs and owns the meter socket. GMP provides the service meter.
Who does the tree clearing for my line extension?
The customer has a choice to either do the trimming and cover costs or have GMP provide the service at a contract rate. If required trimming is within an existing GMP easement, GMP will hire the qualified trimming crew.
Who is responsible for obtaining the easements on other landowners property?
GMP will assist the customers with the appropriate forms and information for the easement. It is up to the customer to research and negotiate for any easements outside of their property. GMP will provide the easement research at a contract cost.
